Living in this little Mountain town it seems that you hear everything... eventually. Well not any more. Being that we already have snow on the ground and Winter is sneaking up on us, it's nice to know we have a Frozen Food Delivery Service that comes around every 2 weeks. Apparently that is changing... the driver that had this route recently told us that their yard had 6 trucks that didn't have drivers for them and the company was considering major cutbacks. I found out that our driver was training a new driver to show him the ropes and their conversation turned to compensation. When our drivers' trainee found out what he was going to make, he had our driver pull over and the trainee got out saying, "I can't make that much money, I'd lose my food stamps!"
Really???!!! Wow!, that is amazing to me! I thought the reason we had certain benefits available to us, through our Government was to help us get back on our feet, not to promote subsistence. This ex-driver needs help... NOW, I've heard it all.... |
